The Natura 2000 Network

The Natura 2000 Network is a European ecological network that results from the implementation of two essential community directives: the Birds Directive and the Habitats Directive - transposed into domestic law by Decree-Law No. 140/99, of April 24, as amended given by Decree-Law no. 49/2005, of February 24th, amended by Decree-Law no. 156-A/2013 of November 8th. This supranational network covers areas designated as Special Conservation Zones (ZEC) and Special Protection Zones (ZPE).

The Santo Isidro property is completely included in the Natura 2000 Network, being an integral part of the ZEC and ZPE. Furthermore, it is recognized as a Site of Community Interest (SIC) , as stipulated by the RAMSAR convention.
